Anapol Weiss’s $206 million verdict in “Kids for Cash” case is No. 1 in the Legal’s 2022 list of Top Verdicts and Settlements in Pennsylvania

Anapol Weiss has been featured at the top of The Legal’s Top Verdicts and Settlements in Pennsylvania of 2022. In this case, our firm secured a $206M verdict against two former judges for their involvement in the Luzerne County “kids-for-cash” scandal.

U.S. District Judge Christopher C. Conner of the Middle District of Pennsylvania on Aug. 16 ordered defendants Mark Ciavarella and Michael Conahan to pay $106 million in compensatory damages and $100 million in punitive damages to juveniles and parents of juveniles affected by the scheme.

Anapol Weiss partner Sol Weiss oversaw the civil trial for the suit, which began in 2009.
