Anapol Weiss Files Transvaginal Mesh Lawsuit for Injured Patient

By: Anapol Weiss

Mar 18, 2025

Anapol Weiss, a nationwide personal injury and mass torts firm with its headquarters in Philadelphia, has filed a transvaginal mesh lawsuit in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas on behalf of a woman who suffered catastrophic injuries caused by two defective pelvic mesh products implanted for prolapse and stress urinary incontinence, Gynemesh PS and Advantage Fit, manufactured and sold by Ethicon, Inc., Johnson & Johnson, and Boston Scientific Corporation. The suit also names Jefferson Health System, Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, Lehigh Valley Health Network, and Dr. Sarah Friedman as defendants.

The plaintiff underwent a robotic-assisted sacralcolpopexy on May 13, 2015, performed by Dr. Sarah Friedman at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Muhlenberg to treat uterovaginal prolapse and stress urinary incontinence. Following the implantation of Gynemesh PS and Advantage Fit mesh products, the plaintiff experienced pain, recurring infections, and urinary issues. Diagnostic tests revealed a fistula and mesh erosion into her bladder, requiring extensive surgical intervention in 2023.

The lawsuit alleges that the defendants failed to properly test the mesh products, failed to warn of their risks, and misrepresented their safety to the public and medical community. Anapol Weiss is seeking damages on behalf of the plaintiff for injuries allegedly caused by the defective mesh implants.

Anapol Weiss has extensive experience representing individuals injured by defective medical devices, including transvaginal mesh implants. Between 2015-2019, Anapol Weiss shareholder, Kila Baldwin has successfully secured multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements—$80 million, $57 million, $41 million, $13.5 million, and $12.5 million—for clients who were harmed by defective transvaginal mesh implants. The injuries detailed in this lawsuit are not isolated, as some of the most commonly reported complications our firm sees include infections, pain, discomfort, mesh erosion, and vaginal scarring.

Lawsuits against transvaginal mesh manufacturers remain active, with many women still pursuing compensation for serious complications linked to the device. With a dedicated team of attorneys focused on medical product liability litigation, Anapol Weiss continues to fight for justice for those harmed by dangerous medical products.
