Anapol Weiss shareholder Alexandra Walsh has been hired to serve as trial counsel in the closely watched parental leave litigation between Jones Day and two of its former attorneys. Former Jones Day lawyers Marc Savignac and Julia Sheketoff allege that the firm’s parental leave policy discriminates against men by providing eight fewer weeks of parental leave compared to women. They also claim Jones Day retaliated after Savignac voiced concerns about the policy.
“This is a case about standing up to unfair treatment of a very powerful entity’s employees,” Walsh stated in her recent interview with Bloomberg Law. “I feel really confident that a jury will agree that what happened here was discriminatory and retaliatory.”
Set for trial in November 2025, the dispute has been ongoing since 2019. A pivotal moment came in September 2024 when a federal judge rejected Jones Day’s motion for summary judgment, clearing the way for the case to proceed.
Walsh, who joined the case as the first outside counsel for the plaintiffs, brings a wealth of experience to the table. In addition to her leadership in this litigation, Walsh serves on high-profile committees overseeing cases against Uber Technologies Inc. and Meta Platforms Inc.
