Yes, there is a lawsuit against Roblox. Anapol Weiss filed a lawsuit in the Superior Court of California in February 2025 against Roblox Corp. and Discord Inc., accusing them of enabling the sexual exploitation of a child. As Anapol Weiss attorney Pat Huyett told the San Mateo Daily Journal, “This type of exploitation does occur on other platforms but … by far, child predators prefer platforms like Roblox and Discord. It’s like the world’s biggest playground, and so that is a draw for [predators]. They fly under the radar a bit more than platforms like Instagram, which has been in the spotlight for awhile now. Roblox has too, but other platforms overshadow them because they’re more widely used.”
The 2024 Hindenburg Research report, based on in-game research on the Roblox platform, called Roblox “an X-rated pedophile hellscape, exposing children to grooming, pornography, violent content and extremely abusive speech.” The report noted as well that The National Center on Sexual Exploitation in 2024 labeled Roblox “a tool for sexual predators, a threat for children's safety.” Together, these findings revealed chilling examples of harms, painting a grim picture of a platform that allowed exploitation to thrive under the guise of creative play.
“There’s a systemic failure of safety,” said Walsh. “Horrifically, our client in this case is one child of many who have been grievously injured as a result of that.”
“There are thousands of kids who’ve already been hurt,” Anapol Weiss attorney Alexandra Walsh told KQED Radio. “There are thousands of more kids who are at risk, and Roblox and Discord know exactly what’s happening on their platforms. They have the resources to protect children, but they’re prioritizing financial gain over the safety of our kids.”
