We are still rejoicing from a big Super Bowl Win for Philadelphia fans. Whether you are a diehard Eagles fan, a Chiefs fan, a “Swiftie”, a fan of Kendrick Lamar’s, or just there for the commercials, on Sunday, February 9th, 2025, an estimated 127.7 million viewers reportedly watched the Super Bowl. It is believed to be the largest audience for a Super Bowl and single network telecast in history. I don’t remember the score, or who made the winning touchdown, but I do remember one commercial. . .
It was about breast cancer. The commercial was meant to encourage women to be diligent about getting mammograms so that breast cancer can be detected earlier. It used a huge public stage – the Super Bowl – to stress the importance of early detection and encouraging women to go get mammograms.
However, the reality is that most private health insurance companies will only cover mammograms for women who are 40 and over, and even then, it is only the initial screenings that are covered by most private and governmental policies- and these initial screenings often miss cancers, especially for those who are at an increased risk of developing breast cancer. And just how many women does that affect? Over half of women need more than just the annual mammograms.
At Anapol Weiss, we are Women’s Health Litigation Attorneys who understand the importance of early diagnosis. We actively investigate and litigate failure to diagnose breast cancer cases. Unfortunately, in today’s healthcare environment, doctors are often pressured to rush through visits with patients, or in the case of radiologists, rush through looking at breast imaging. This rush causes mistakes, and mistakes, like failing to notice questionable breast images and order follow-up images, can cost lives.
If you were diagnosed with late-stage breast cancer, Stage III or IV, and had a breast examination and/or mammogram in the two years before your diagnosis, the doctors may have missed the warning signs of breast cancer when it was still at an early stage. Contact our team of experienced medical malpractice attorneys who know how to handle these claims and work with experts daily to review the records in cases like these so we can get you compensation.
